Dave Hogan

My name is Dave Hogan and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Social Work Supervisor in the state of Texas. I have worked in the counseling field for over 40 years and have found it to be my life mission.

I began my counseling career with a police department’s First Offender Program as a youth counselor. The program is a youth and family counseling program designed to be a diversion from the Juvenile Justice system for first-time offenders ages 10 to 16 years old. I provided individual and group counseling to adolescents and their parents utilizing effective skills training. From there, I transferred to a unit providing services to individuals referred by police officers who were in need of social work and counseling. These individuals were of all ages and often experiencing depression, anxiety, or a mental health crisis requiring professional assistance.

In 2020, I became Clinical Director of the Dallas County Deflection Center. The Center diverts individuals with substance use disorders and/or mental illness—who have committed minor, low-level misdemeanors—from jail into a coordinated, multi-tiered treatment program. The Center provides needs assessments, trauma-informed crisis intervention, and connections to residential treatment.

I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Marshall University and a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Texas A&M-Commerce. I have worked as an individual strength-based therapist in the Dallas area for many years. My passion is helping people more effectively work through the stressors in their lives, discover better ways to manage life-disturbing issues, and improve their self-esteem.
